For Influenza & Pneumonia

Influenza

Number of times influenza was mentioned in one or more of the diagnostic fields on the emergency room and hospital inpatient discharge records (Table 1)

Number of influenza-related emergency room visits and inpatient discharges by type of hospital record, gender, age group, and county of residence (Table 2)

Number of influenza-related inpatient discharges by month of discharge, gender, age group, and race/ethnicity (Table 3)

Number of influenza-related emergency room visits by month of discharge, gender, and age group (Table 4)

Influenza and Pneumonia

Influenza and pneumonia-related emergency room visits, inpatient discharges, and deaths by month (Figure 2)

Number of influenza and pneumonia-related emergency room visits by month of discharge, gender, and age group (Table 5)

Number of influenza and pneumonia-related emergency room visits and inpatient discharges by month of discharge, gender, and age group (Table 6)

All mentions (or all occurrences) of the diagnosis regardless of the order on the medical record were used to identify the discharges for influenza in Table 1-Table 4, all-listed diagnoses were used to identify the discharges for influenza and pneumonia-related inpatient hospital stays and emergency room visits in Table 5 and Table 6. The discharge record may include more than one diagnosis specific to influenza (i.e., influenza both with pneumonia and influenza with other manifestations). Therefore, the sum of occurrences of all-listed diagnoses in Table 1 (the column sum in this table) is greater than the total number of influenza-related discharges.
